We'll be right back.

In the mean time, feel free to stop by our MySpace, listen to a christmas song, and enjoy the holidays.

Grandfather Clocks Lyrics + New Tour Dates + Other Fun Stuff

Better late than never, right? I finally posted the lyrics for G-Clocks--you can check them out here. I have also put a permanent link in the sidebar on the right. The three of us are taking this week to get our personal belongs together/wrap up loose ends before we move. Brian is up at his parent's in Chicago and Chris is up in Akron doing the same.

As for moi, I'll be spending the next week setting up shop in the basement--writing the next batch of Slow Claw jams. I'm looking forward to getting back to the music basics, being creative and bumming around the house while drinking far too much coffee for my own good. Currently, I have no form of employment and will have some free time on my hands--don't hesitate to hit me up before I leave.

Chris has been busy booking more Slow Claw tour dates (imagine that) and we've already posted a handful of them. Check them at the MySpace or Facebook. We're pumped to get back to a few of our favorite cities, and as always, we would love to see everyone out. For all of our Cincy friends--don't forget about CincyPunkFest 8!!! It's April 10th and 11th at Southgate House. We're playing Saturday @ 9 or so in the Ballroom, however, this is for a good cause and you should just come out for both nights to support all the amazing local acts.

I'm still working on getting some pictures and videos up--be patient, please :)

No Complaints 2K9

We just arrived back in OH, and although we're pretty beat, we couldn't have asked for more from our recent excursion. The Florida dates were a blast, as expected, and despite an 11 hour drive from Mobile, AL, our time in Texas was awesome. We'd like to thank everyone that came out to the shows and hung out--we met a ton of new faces and are excited to get back out and see everyone again.

That being said, we're not taking much time to rest--there's always work to be done. We have a few shows coming up (CincyPunk Fest April 11th!!) and we'll be announcing our May tour soon. I'm sorting through the random pictures and videos that we have from this past tour and I'll be posting them asap.

Slow Claw's Mountain Top BBQ Adventure

We stopped off at an exit located on the Pigeon River, deep in the mountains on our drive to Asheville. Our intention was to use a post office, but it had already closed. Fortunately this sign caught our eye on our way back to the highway. The rustic building, combined with the sweet smell and our noticeably empty stomachs meant that we would have to try this Smoky Mt. eatery.

It started off well--agreeable prices and friendly service from the staff. Since it's known for its BBQ, all three of us chose the pulled-pork platter.

I chose my poison--homemade BBQ sauce and tabasco--and let the sandwich have it. I like it spicy and I didn't hold back.

Chris thoroughly enjoyed every bite. To mask the tears of joy and delight caused by his meal, he was required to wear his sunglasses.

Brian made sure to add the correct amount of salt to the mound of crinkle-cut fries on his plate.

For all the times I've driven that stretch of I-40, I've never once stopped at that exit. It was a fantastic find and I would imagine there are many places similar to this that have yet to be discovered. From now on we'll be on the lookout. MmmMm.

WHERE'S MY NECK, BRO?!

Another Monday has arrived and another jam from Grandfather Clocks is up. We are officially counting down the days until we are able to load-up Vanna White and hit the road. There are still things to take care of before then, but it's definitely nice to think about!

Our warm-up shows last weekend went well--the acoustic Rohs show was cozy and their Earl Grey tea was very tasty. The show at the Blue Rock was loud and raucous with a few PBRs and two fire-breathers (no joke). Chris flexed his theatrical chops at The Seedy Seeds video shoot this weekend, as well. He donned his best brobrah gear and acted a fool.

Time is running out for pre-sale of our debut record. It's only $5 (shipping included)--if you want to preview the tracks, head to the MySpace. Keep on keepin' on!

4 New Songs 4 Weeks!!

It is officially Monday and unfortunately we have only just now released our new song "Miss Lady Lately" -- we're very sorry, but we felt we needed to get the songs sounding proper. However, we were being serious about releasing a new song every week for the next three weeks! It is our way of trying to say "Thank You" for the support we've received.

Online PRE-SALE for our record, "Grandfather Clocks", is now available. It's $5 (S&H included) until February 22nd -- 8 songs, pretty good deal.

Live from the Pizza Factory

This week we've been braving the elements in order to meet up with Dr. Benjammin' Jones at his super-secret laboratory. We drink a few pots of coffee and tea and listen to the songs over and over--trying to work out the kinks while keeping our sanity intact. Unfortunately, it got the best of Chris:

Brian also showed signs of fatigue:

But the good news is it's comin' along just fine, so don't fret. We also have a little surprise for everyone--just watch the video below.

Tick Tick Tocking Clock

Sorry for the lack of updates in the past week. We returned to our "normal" jobs and have been keeping very busy with Slow Claw stuff. In reference to the title of this post, our debut Record "Grandfather Clocks" is almost through post-production--we're proud of what we've created and extremely excited to release it. While we're on the subject, make sure to check out our MySpace or Facebook for tour dates. We have four CD release shows the last week of February, followed by dates throughout March. We don't want to miss an opportunity to hangout with all of you, so please, please, please come out. It will be fun. I promise.

More updates later this week. Chris and I are fighting some nasty colds, but don't worry, we're taking our vitamins, getting rest (not really), and drinking lots of fluids. Okay that's it for now--back to work.

Beat Boxing!!!

So we are completely finished with recording. The three of us made the long trek back to Ohio through the night on Wednesday to get back to our day jobs. Boooooooo!!! The experience of recording with Joel was remarkable and we are so glad we chose him to do the record with. He has an almost automatic sense of what sounds good and makes sense while recording. The extremely natural production style gives the recordings a feeling that you can't replace. It almost feels like you are in the room with us. He sat in on most of the songs recording everything from guitars, piano, and rainstick/tambo (see below).

Here is a video of the very last thing we recorded. Along with gang vocals Joel made us beat box for the last chorus of a song called "Everybody" that will be on the new record. It sounds ridiculous and looks even more ridiculous but it is exactly what the song needed. Check it!

Wrap It Up!!!

We have been very busy trying to get this record done. Tomorrow night we will make the long drive back to Ohio. None of us are looking forward to getting back to work but who ever looks forward to that? We are however very excited to close the tracking chapter of the record and move on to mixing, mastering, and pressing the record.

I did my best to be our videographer during recording. It is an art in it self and I'll keep trying if you guys keep watching. Here are a few short videos I took over the last few days. The second video has a taste of two brand new songs. Check it out! Chris

Hamilton Hotel...

This morning we woke up to our daily ritual of breakfast and a music dvd. Breakfast was awesome!!! Brian made some killer pancakes, eggs, sausage, and coffee. He ate his big breakfast in a little chair while we watched... The Band -The Last Waltz DVD
We started guitar tracking and are making considerable progress on the record.  I can speak for everyone involved when I say we are excited to hear the finished product and share it with you.   Here is a look at the amp we are using and a quick video peek. Chris

Liftoff

This is our first day in pictures:
Brian drove us to Joel's in the morning.

I found an accordion and I'm considering doing a polka album.

A look at the drums inside the studio.

Joel's sister is learning to sew--this is her first Frankenstein, aka Hammerhead Fred.

And this is Dudley--he seems pretty happy despite a very asymmetrical face.

Tracking is going well--we have good drum and bass sounds and hopefully we'll be knocking out a handful of songs today.

Daannnnng...

Currently, we are loading up the van and departing for Charleston, SC. We'll be in the Holy City for the next week or so recording our debut EP, with Joel T. Hamilton of the Working Title. We're very happy with the new material and are looking forward to sharing them with all of you. Our plan is to document the recording process and other miscellaneous events--so be on the lookout for a mess of new pictures and videos.

We will release the EP at the end of February--followed by a tour, which will include dates in March with Kevin from One Small Step For Landmines. That means we'll be able to see all your pretty faces and play some tunes in front of you in the near future. We're thinking that 2009 will be a good year.
